MY FRIENDS, BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT……..

images“For those who thus lay hold of the divine assurances of God’s word, there are wonderful possibilities. Before them lie vast fields of truth, vast resources of power. Glorious things are to be revealed. Privileges and duties which they do not even suspect to be in the Bible will be made manifest. All who walk in the path of humble obedience, fulfilling His purpose, will know more and more of the oracles of God. Let the student take the Bible as his guide and stand firm for principle, and he may aspire to any height of attainment.” (E.G. White, Ministry of Healing p 464-465)

And my friends, the height of attainment where Christ is trying to take us starts on a mountain. “When seeing the crowds, Christ went up into the mountain…..And He open His mouth and taught them.” This my friends, is where the Standard of truth was proclaimed and the kingdom of grace is taught, beginning with the words, “Blessed are the poor in Spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” Matt. 5:1-3 (KJV)

To become “poor in Spirit” we understand it is not about “social inequalities” but about our need of the kingdom of matthew-5_31grace and the need of God to restore Himself into the retched state we have found ourselves in throughout our lives, where we have become rich, with many goods, and have “need of nothing.”

So, now we are spiritually dead because our focus has been placed on the things of this world and not on things above. Jesus told the rich young ruler to “go and sell all he possessed and give to the poor, and you will have treasures in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Mark 10:21 (NASB)

My friends, the kingdom of grace is at hand and we are being called daily to “follow Christ” at “such a time as this” a time when the “wickedness of man is great in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [has become] evil continually” Gen 6:5 (KJV)

But to become “poor in spirit” and follow Christ, we must also have a passion to “forsake all others” as we acknowledge our complete dependence upon Christ and His saving grace where our true happiness is found. Dependence on Christ also says self is dead and our needs are only what God feels is appropriate for where He is trying to lead us.

Christ words are, “ do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ Or what shall we wear?’  For after all these things the [world] seek………But [we must] seek first the kingdom of God [and His divine grace]” Matt. poor_in_spirit16:31 (NKJV) Remember Christ divine grace will one day “restore the lost happiness of Eden.”

And if we have allowed His divine grace to also restore our character back to that same time before man attempted to bypass God’s divine requirements.” We can then say with no reservations we are “poor in Spirit” and Christ divine grace and His kingdom is within us.

And It is who we are and what we have become through God’s word and Spirit. And now we have denied ourselves and our focus is only to take up our cross daily and follow Christ.” But if we have unfinished business in this world and being “poor in Spirit” is not what we seek, one day soon “Christ will come as a thief in the night and we will not know”
