MOUNTAINS!!!
Luke 3:5 Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.
Life, Death, Home, Family, Employment!!! The subject is infinite when we think of one’s problems within the interaction with our day to day life and how we as Christians relate or handle each situation or circumstances that arises. I now use A phrase frequently, when characterizing my journey when I say that my Faith has been stretched to the limit.
But with me personally the story never ends there because the God I serve is unlimited, unmeasurable, and infinitely, in extent of space, duration of time in regards to what He is capable of doing for me in my life each day. And my friends I hope and pray he is also A infinite God in your journey as well.
In Matthew 7:9-11 it tells us “Which of you, if your son or daughter asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
I love to study the character of God’s friends, specifically the one God tells us in Acts 13:22 referring to Him as “a man after my own heart;” He can say this about His friend because “he will do everything I want him to do.” God’s friend is confronted with A MOUNTAIN, or A champion named Goliath.
In 1Samuel 17:45 David tells his MOUNTAIN “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head.
This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle or MOUNTAIN is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
My friends do you think if Goliath height and size was three times what it was when He stood before David, David would have disrespected Him the way He did, well as a bystander to this story, I can say because I am also A friend of God.
The size of the MOUNTAIN did not matter to David because He Knew He served A God who created the MOUNTAIN. Elijah faced a MOUNTAIN also, in the form of 450 Prophets of Baal on MOUNT Carmel. In 1Kings 18:36:40 it tells us At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed:
“Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”
Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord he is God! The Lord he is God!” Then Elijah commanded them, “Seize the prophets of Baal. Don’t let anyone get away!”
They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.” Maybe if there were 10,000 or 100,000 prophets of Baal he would not have disrespected them the way He did. Well once again, my God created the MOUNTAIN that David and Elijah had to Go over. and neither hesitated.
For in Psalm 55:22 it tells us to “Cast your cares or Mountains on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”but today my friends what about your MOUNTAINS your TRIALS, How far must your Faith be stretched before you realize that our God is a infinite God who has no limits.
He tells us in Jeremiah 23:23-24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD But My friends today maybe you can not reach the top of your MOUNTAIN because “your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).
Friends, If your desire is to take your JOURNEY with Christ, then you must have the character of Christ and allow Him through His Word and Spirit to take full control of your life. Jesus Christ on Calvary, when taken upon Himself, the full penalty of our sins. Oh what A MOUNTAIN He had to climb.
For on the MOUNT of olivet it was our Savior’s humanity that recognized the difficulty of His MOUNTAIN He had to climb, it was His humanity that knew the height of this MOUNTAIN He was about to take would seem impossible, But He stayed FOCUSED and PRAYED more earnestly then ever before, until his sweat, was like drops of blood, falling to the ground.
When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow He asked. “Why are you sleeping?”.“Get up!!! Get up!!! and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” He knew what MOUNTAIN layed ahead for each of them.
But remember this is the same Jesus that faced a MOUNTAIN in the form of a raging storm on the Sea of Galilee, totally composed, and undisturbed. He also faced MOUNTAINS in the form of demonic hostility, OH, So Calm. MOUNTAINS from Satan and the religious Elect, at every step, All of this with total restraint.
But here in the Garden, Humanity took its toil at just the thought of not conquering that MOUNTAIN that lay before Him, as the whole weight of the world was on His shoulders. But His Faith, and Prayer’s and staying FOCUSED as He CONQUERED THAT MOUNTAIN, is the reason we all can face our MOUNTAIN and TRIALS also each day.
Psalm 139:7-10 tells us about the infinite God we serve “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me,and your right hand shall hold me. so what MOUNTAIN will our God not allow us to say “ in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37
I will lift up mine eyes to the hills
From whence cometh my help
My help cometh from the Lord
The Lord Which made heaven and earth
He said, He will not suffer thy foot; thy foot to be moved
The Lord Which keepeth thee
He will not slumber nor sleep
For the Lord is thy keeper
The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand
Upon thy right hand
For the sun shall not smite thee by day
Nor the moon by night
He shall preserve thy soul
Even forever more
My help,
All of my help
Cometh from the Lord
Ps. 121
