MY FRIENDS “HOW LONG HALT YE BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS?”
In 1 Corinthians 1:18, (KJV) the Bible tells us that the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but the power of God to those who are being saved. Friends I need you to focus on the fact that God is not only a God of the Old and New Testament, but is a God of today and tomorrow.
Yes not only the God of Moses, who parted the red sea with only a rod, or David who killed Goliath with only a sling shot and a stone and of course, in the New Testament, “the Greatest Story ever told”, the incarnation of Jesus Christ. But God is Omnipresence, a God who is always present.
And if our God is always present in His Word, then He is in control of the day to day activities of every situations, and circumstances of His Children’s lives in 2014. Yes all of our concerns, and anxieties, trials, fears, hopes, and joys. Yes the God of the Bible is the same God who takes care of all of our needs each day.
In Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) it tells us “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”. His PREDICTABILITY throughout His word and in my life tells me, unlike the false gods of this world. He is God and God along, today, yesterday and forever, even throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity.
But in addition to the existence of God Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) tells us “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. So my friends it is not just about God, but also our faith in His presence in our lives. Let’s Go to 1 king and focus on God’s servant Elijah. Elijah requested King Ahab to gather the people of Israel, the 450 priests of Baal, and the 400 prophets of Ashtaroth on Mt. Carmel.
Then he asked Israel the famous question: in 1 Kings 18:21 “HOW LONG HALT YE BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS?” which we must ask ourselves that same question, if we seek life eternal. “HOW LONG WILL WE BE UNDECIDED AS TO WHETHER WE SHALL FOLLOW YAHWEH OR THE FORCES OF EVIL?
In1 Kings 18:24 (KJV) Elijah asked the priest of Baal to speak to their gods, and I will speak to my God. Because he knew that everyone at that point felt that the God of Israel was dead or no longer relevant. But for Elijah the God of His strength, and faith lives forever in him. He was the supreme existence of Elijah’s life. He is the “Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV) tells us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” Elijah believed this, because he stood before Ahab the king of Israel, and 850 false prophets, but he was conscious of the presence of someone greater than any earthly king or god.
And he had faith in what his God would do and did do, and as God’s Chosen we must also believe not only that God exists, but that He will reward our faith in Him because He has promised through His word. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. to do so. Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
“Faith is not merely some firmly held persuasion, but unwavering confidence in what God’s word specifically states, whether promise or warning, a blessing for this life or for the life to come, [in Gods pure and holy kingdom.]” (Ben J. Elston)
Consistent with this is “The faith we need is the faith that surrenders to God because of an absolute truth in Him. It will not always mean healing in answer to prayer, but it will mean confidence in Him, and therefore, submission to Him. (Edwin R. Errett)
We know how the story ends on Mt. Carmel, God is vindicated as the only true God once again. So my friends how will your story end or “HOW LONG HALT YE BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS?” God stands at the door of our heart and knocks When will we give him an answer.
So my friends today. Stay focused, remain faithful, love one another and endure till the end and never forget to STUDY&PRAY
