MY FRIENDS, HOW DO WE RECOGNIZE GOD’S VOICE AMONG THE SOUND OF CONFUSION?
Webster defines conscience as; the complex of ethical and moral principles that controls or inhibits the actions or thoughts of an individual.
Ellen White defines conscience as “the voice of God, heard amid the conflict of human passions; when it is resisted, the Spirit of God is grieved” She counsels: “The Lord requires us to obey the voice of duty, when there are other voices all around us urging us to pursue an opposite course.
It requires earnest attention from us to distinguish the voice which speaks from God. We must resist and conquer inclination, and obey the voice of conscience without parleying or compromise, lest its promptings cease.” (Ellen White Testimonies for the Church vol. 5 pp120 pp 69)
God tells Moses in Ex. 7:2-3 (NKJV) “You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land. And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not heed you”
Moses, the voice of reason through God spoke to Pharaoh, but he chose to turn His back on God, remember there was another Pharaoh that recognized God’s presence through Joseph 400 years earlier. But we all make choices weather good or bad, or life and death.
To serve God, our choice. Remember God will not take away our options. But, let’s not get it wrong their is an unpardonable Sin “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” Matt. 12:31 (NKJV)
But my friends, what we must understand, God does not turn his back or leaves us, it is His Children who repeatedly tells Him over and over that the god of this world has a better plan for their life, one that promises fame and fortune, so we tell God, we no longer need redemption.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) The more time we spend intimately with God and His Word, the easier it is to distinguish God’s voice and His leading in our lives, from the forces of evil and the confusion of this world.
Employees at an airport are trained to recognize counterfeit ID’s by studying genuine ID’s so closely from various states, and countries, that it will be unimaginable not to recognize a fake one, simply because they have studied diligently the real from the fake.
And as a child of God we should be so familiar with God’s Word, that when God does speak to us or directs us through His Spirit that it will be absolutely clear that it is God’s voice who we here. And in so doing, it will verify in our minds, any, and all, truth from error.
In addition, at times we must shut out the world because how can you distinguish God’s voice among the confusion of the world if our TV and computer and tablet and radio and cell phones are what we live by 24/7
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” Is. 30:21 (ESV) My friends it is impossible to here God’s voice in the midst of chaos and that is exactly what the god of this world has manufactured in the place of a genuine relationship with God through all of our technology which keeps us from hearing that still small voice among the storms of this life.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27 (KJV) But we must “be still and recognize the counterfeit, from the one who Gave His only Begotten Son and a Son who “Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Phil 2:8 (NASB)
And His willingness to die on that cross allows us to hear His voice in the midst of confusion and receive life eternal in a place that “no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived…” 1 Cor. 2:9 (NIV)
So my friends today. Stay focused, remain faithful, love one another and endure till the end and never forget to STUDY&PRAY
